What the app actually does
Rare Coin Scanner & Identifier works off two photos — front and back of the coin — and runs them against a database it claims covers 500,000-plus coins across countries and eras, from ancient currency to modern circulating coins. It comes back with an identification, an estimated mint year, a rarity indicator, and a market value range, instead of you cross-referencing blurry catalog photos yourself.
